Defining Luxury Since 1946
On the extreme northern end of the barrier island known as Miami Beach lies a place so special that it inspired the creation of a brand-new word. Coined by the founders of Bal Harbour, Florida in 1946, the word was meant to describe a place bounded by a bay on one side and by the Atlantic Ocean on the other. B was taken from the word “bay,” combined with A and L from the name “Atlantic,” and B-A-L was born.
Today the little Village of Bal Harbour, although measuring less than one square mile in size, is known internationally for its unique style and sophistication. Surrounded by dramatic saltwater views and boasting landscaped beach paths, gourmet restaurants and truly world-class designer stores, the Village has been called the “ne plus ultra” of South Florida luxury. It is where discriminating travelers choose to vacation.
